Accident is unexpected. A street accident has become a common incident in Bangladesh. Everyday we can find news of street accident in the dailies. None can say that he will return home safe. Most often accident takes place for careless and reckless driving. We hear a rickshaw colliding another rickshaw, an auto rickshaw damaged by a truck or public bus. Sometimes pedestrians are run over or knocked down by motor vehicles. Day before yesterday a traffic accident happened just before my eyes. At 10 a.m. I was going to school along the Mirpur Road. A boy was going the same way. He was a few steps ahead of me. At Science Laboratory, the boy suddenly turned and started to cross the road. He had just moved to the middle of the road, when, all on a sudden, a truck with full speed was coming from the opposite direction. The boy, when he saw the truck a few feet near him, got puzzled and run backwards. The driver tried desperately to hold the break but failed. The truck ran over the boy. Everybody rushed to the spot. To my horror I saw that he was no more a human body but changed into a lump of flesh. There was raised a hue and cry. Tears rolled down from my eyes. I could not bear to watch the tragic scene. I closed my eyes. Afterwards, instead of going to school, I came back home.
